Melissa Jean Design Patterns are meant to be fairly simple and fun knits. Listed below are techniques frequently used in the patterns.  Also listed are pattern corrections.....drat, even after much editing and knitting, mistakes are printed.

SLEEVES: All the patterns assume you will knit the sleeves with the "Magic Loop" method on 32"-40" circular needles as opposed to double pointed or smaller circular needles.  I learned this from a booklet featuring Sarah Hauschka's invention, published by Fiber Trends. Knit Picks Options needles, are great because the cord is very flexible and when necessary I can use the cord on interchangeable needles as a stitch holder. You can see it demonstarted on You Tube.

RAGLAN SLEEVES: The method of working from the neck down or bottom up and attaching the sleeves after is an enjoyable way of knitting as the seams to sew after knitting are minimal to none.

This is obviously knit from bottom up.

PATTERN CORRECTIONS

Janey Child Pullover

BODY (ARMHOLE TO HEM) ............put 39(42)(47) sts for the sleeve evenly onto 2 holders (include raglan sts on 1 year size, but not the 2 larger sizes). DO NOT dec 1 st in the center of back. Total 104(120)(132) sts.

SLEEVE (ARMHOLE TO HEM) ........pick up 39(42)(47) sts from right sleeve holder. Pick up 6 sts from body at underarm. Total 45(48)(53)sts. After decreases there are 40(41)(44) sts.

Twinkle Twinkle Cardigan

Patterns sold at Clermont Sheep Showcase have a misprint.  Please contact me for information. If you purchased a pattern after 4/27/2008 yours should be correct.

Wynn's Riding Jacket

To clarify the Raglan Yoke Shaping, the instructions say to dec 1 st both sides of each (of the 4) raglan markers on every RS row 6(8)(10) times TOTAL (including ROW 1).

For 1 year size, after raglan yoke shaping, 45 sts remain, not 51.

For 4/5 year ONLY, I have changed the number of CO sts for the sleeve.  CO 49 sts, follow directions through #2. For 4/5 size only, inc 1 st, then inc 1 st every 7 rows 8 more times to 58 sts.  Cont until sleeve measures 11". Follow directions for joining sleeves to body, but you will pick up 52 sts for each sleeve, not 55. There will be 225 sts on the needle before raglan shaping. After the first row of raglan decreases, 217 sts remain. After all of the raglan decreases, 61 sts remain. Now follow directions for collar etc. Sorry for this change, but it will look much nicer. Patterns purchased after 7/5/2008 will reflect these instructions.  Thank you for understanding!
